Who are we?
West Hereford Petanque Club moved to our new facility at our hosts Hinton FC grounds in Broomy Hill Hereford in April 2023. From nothing we have progressively built and improved our facility and have been rewarded by a steadily increasing membership (approx. 50/50 male & female). New members are joining all the time as our local public exposure increases, our social media activity increases and our facility improves. Play, for our members is both social and competitive. We also take part in local Community events raising money for local charities. We play regularly in the Marches Petanque League and take part in various inter-club and regional/national Petanque competitions. Of special interest to the club is the promotion of the sport to Juniors and Disabled people and your support for these proposed developments will assist us greatly in that purpose.
Why are we crowdfunding
Our project has been awarded a £2,500 pledge by Sport England on the basis that WHPC raise the remaining £2,500 of our £5,000 target. We are doing this by our members undertaking various other fundraising efforts in the community including Car Boot sales, Tombola stalls, Cake stalls & merchandise sales
How we’ll spend the money raised
We will spend your money wholly on providing safer, permanent and inclusive community facilities at WHPC. Our three main objectives are to provide an all-weather shelter for players and spectators (Petanque is an all year round outdoor sport), secure permanent connections to electricity and mains water supplies and to provide various accessories and adaptations to our clubhouse to enable easy access and use of the facility for disabled persons; particularly wheelchair users.
Community impact
Petanque at WHPC fits well with the ambition of our hosts Hinton FC for their Grounds to become a multi-sport venue, thus extending the "community" offering of the facility. This is because our sport appeals to a different demographic and is playable by people of all ability levels and ages but who are not necessarily able to meet the strenuous physical demands of football.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
